Helen I. Sill, 96, of LaVista, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Helen was born July 7, 1916, in Lexington, Nebraska, to A. Roy and Harriett (Shepherd) Doughty. Helen grew up in Lexington where she lived her entire life until moving to be near their son. She was a 1934 graduate of Lexington High School.
She was united in marriage to Joe Sill on April 17, 1942, in San Luis Obispo, California. One son, Jeff, was blessed to this marriage. Helen was a member of the Lexington Christian Church.
Helen worked beside her husband on their farm her entire married life and loved being a mother to Jeff.
Helen is survived by her son, Jeff of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers, Bill Doughty of Lexington, Nebraska and Gene Doughty of Lincoln, Nebraska; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; and brother Robert.
Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Lexington Christian Church with Pastor Jim Henry officiating.
Interment will be held prior at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to The American Diabetes Association or the Donor’s Choice.
