Anna Marion Harris

November 25, 1903 — April 7, 2008

Marion R. Harris, 104, of Beatrice, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at the P.E.O. Home in Beatrice. She was born November 25, 1903, at Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, to George D. and Alice (Nash) Richards. She moved with her family to Nebraska and grew up in the North Platte area. She was a 1921 graduate of North Platte High School. Marion was united in marriage to Frank Harris on December 25, 1929, at Petersburg, Nebraska. Two sons were blessed to this union; William and Philip. Marion lived in Nebraska most of her life. She was an operator and office manager for Northwestern Bell for many years. The couple retired to the Lexington area in 1991. They lived at Johnson Lake and then Shackley Retirement Village in Lexington. Frank died in May of 1996, and shortly thereafter, Marion moved to the P.E.O. Home in Beatrice. She was a member of St. Peter’s in the Valley Episcopal Church in Lexington, Chapter GR P.E.O. in Lexington, a past member of Fullerton Chapter #191 Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron, and a life member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed playing bridge and being with her family and her P.E.O. family. Survivors include one son: William (Jean) Harris of Johnson Lake, Nebraska Two grandsons: Tim (Melissa) Harris of Johnson Lake, Nebraska Steve (Cindy) Harris of Denver, Colorado Marion was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; son, Philip; one brother, Ralph. It was Marion’s wishes her body be cremated, so there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 14, 2008, at St. Peter’s in the Valley Episcopal Church in Lexington with Reverend Elizabeth Montes officiating. P.E.O. Memorial Service will also be performed by Chapter GR, Lexington. Inurnment will be held prior to the memorial service at Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Memorials are kindly suggested to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church or St. Stephen’s Episcopal church in Grand Island. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
