Francis "Frank" Schuster

Francis “Frank” Schuster, 82, of rural Eddyville, Nebraska, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at home following a long battle with cancer. He was born May 7, 1931, on the family farm near Callaway, Nebraska to Felix and Clara (Wistuba) Schuster. Frank graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1950. After spending two years in the United States Army he attended Parks College of Aeronautical Technology in East St. Louis, Illinois, transferring to St. Louis University and later taking classes at Washington University majoring in Engineering. He was working for the Army Corps of Engineers when he and his wife decided to move with their two sons to the farm near Eddyville in March of 1964, where he farmed/ranched for the next 49 years. Frank was united in marriage to Betty Randall on October 25, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri. Two sons were blessed to this marriage; Paul and Michael. He was a member of the Oconto Catholic Church where he taught 7th and 8th grade catechism for two years. He later became a member of the Eddyville Catholic Church and a member of the church board. Frank was also a member of the Eddyville Legion Post #0225 and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife Betty of Eddyville; son, Paul of Hong Kong; and, two grandsons, Kenton of New York and Craig of Hong Kong; brothers, Norman (Betty) Schuster of Phillips, Nebraska; Louis (Joan) Schuster of Callaway, Nebraska; sister, Carolyn Farina of St. Louis; brother-in-law, James (Therisa) Randall of St. Louis; nieces Glenda Hogue and Brenda Acord both of St. Louis, Becky Whipple of Grand Island, Nebraska, Michelle Magruder of Denver, Colorado and, Lisa Herr of St. Louis; nephews Jeff Randall of St. Louis, Greg Magruder of Denver, Colorado, and John Farina of Milan, Italy. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; sister, Barbara; Nephew, Ron Magruder; and, father-in-law and mother-in-law. The family has honored Frank’s wishes that his body be cremated. There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eddyville with Reverend Neal Nollette celebrating. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in the Viola Cemetery near Eddyville. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to Viola Cemetery or the family for later designation.
