Don G. Knauss

Don Knauss, 76, of rural Cozad, Nebraska, passed away at his home on Friday, May 17, 2013. He was born February 8, 1937 in Lexington, Nebraska to Harold and Meredith (Gosnell) Knauss. He graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1955 and married Marian (Aden) Knauss on October 4, 1959. He served with the Nebraska National Guard while working on the family farm east of Cozad where he spent the rest of his life raising cattle and farming. Don was very active with the Cattleman’s Association and served as director and president while a member. He was a lifetime member of Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church and served as Elder and Trustee many times, as well as holding various other duties in the church. His great joys in life were his family, especially is grandkids. He loved being with his sons on the farm and was always so happy to spend time in the North Carolina mountains with his daughter and her family. Don is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marian; sons Stuart (Tammy) Knauss of Cozad, Nebraska; Spencer (Dona) Knauss of Gothenburg, Ne. and daughter Summer (Dan) Hays of Banner Elk, N.C.; 4 grandchildren, Jake Knauss, McKenzi Knauss, Madeline Hays and Tucker Knauss. Don is also survived by sisters Nadine (Dennis) Berke of Cozad, Ne. and Marilyn (Carl) Jessen of Fruitport, MI., sister-in-law and brother-in-law Phyllis and Karl Kostbahn of Grand Island, Ne. and sister-in-law Peg Aden of Gothenburg., along with close cousins, nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Al Jessen and brother-in-law Lyle Aden, nephew Scott Berke and niece Kyle Jessen. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church in rural Lexington with Ethel Fox, C.L.P., officiating. A private family graveside service will be held prior to service. Memorials are suggested to Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
