Marvin "Barney" W. Hickenbottom

Marvin W. “Barney” Hickenbottom, 95, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Callaway Good Life Center. He was born August 12, 1917, in Callaway, Nebraska to Rolla Clifford & Frances Addie (Schreyer) Hickenbottom. He was a 1934 graduate of Gandy High School in Logan County. Following school Barney farmed and moved from Arnold back to Callaway in 1955. He was married to LaVonne Whipple on October 7, 1956 in Callaway at the Methodist Parsonage. Two boys were born two this union: Duane & Allan. Marvin spent the majority of his life farming which he loved. He also enjoyed horses, coyote hunting, playing cribbage and cards especially “knock, knock” at Jo’s Café. He was a member of the Callaway United Methodist Church Survivors include his wife: LaVonne Hickenbottom of Callaway, Nebraska Two sons: Duane (Karen) Hickenbottom of Lincoln, Nebraska Allan (Juli) Hickenbottom of Winfield, Kansas Two Sisters: Pat (Joe) Boucher of Council Bluffs, Iowa Mary (Lloyd) Eggen Cle Elum, Washingston Six Grandchildren & one Great-Granddaughter Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Vernon “Bill”, Sisters: Gertrude Linder, Margaret Leach, Florence Berg, Donna McDermott, Delores Hickenbottom and two infant siblings Edward and Pauline. Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Callaway United Methodist Church with Pastor Roger Gillming, officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway. Visitation will be held Friday, April 26, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway. Memorials are kindly suggested to the Callaway Good Life Center or Callaway District Hospital. Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway is in charge of arrangements.
