Lamoine D. Duis, 61, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013, at his home in Lexington, following a courageous fight with cancer.
He was born June 17, 1951, in Gothenburg, Nebraska to George and Leona (Sommer) Duis. He attended school at Gothenburg. Lamoine was united in marriage to Linda Defruiter on April 1, 1967, in Gothenburg. Two sons were blessed to this marriage; Andrew and Shane. The couple later divorced.
Lamoine worked for Sperry New Holland after moving to Lexington in the mid 1970’s . He attended auctioneer school in Billings, Montana in 1977. He later worked for the Kugler Family and then 25 years at Designer Craft Woodworking for Steve Atwood. His health forced him to retire 3 years ago. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gothenburg.
Lamoine loved riding his Harley Davidson, woodworking, fishing, hunting and going to the sale barn. His greatest joys in life were times spent with his sons and grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons; Andrew (Wendy) Duis of Grand Island, Nebraska and Shane Duis of Gothenburg, Nebraska; five grandchildren; Carter, Bryce and Andrea Duis of Grand Island, Nebraska, Judd Duis of Cozad, Nebraska and, Justin Duis of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Lamoine was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Mearle, Kermit and Clifford.
Services will be held Tuesday, Aril 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Gothenburg, Nebraska at 2:00 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
