Rachel A. Hild, 74, of Cozad, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Cozad.
She was born September 24, 1938, in Oconto, Nebraska to Walter and Effie (Elston) Garringer. Rachel graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1957. She was united in marriage to Dale Hild on June 9, 1962, at Christ Lutheran Evangelical Church in Louisville, Nebraska. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Mike, Doug, Ricky and Janet. Ricky passed away as a young child.
The couple lived in Louisville until 1976, when they moved to the Kearney/Elm Creek area. Rachel adored children and for many years ran a Day Care in her home. In 1989, the family moved to Columbus, back to Kearney and then to Cozad.
Rachel’s loves in her life were her family, babysitting, camping, cooking and baking. She made the best Choke Cherry jelly around. She never said a bad word about anyone and her little granddaughter remembers grandma as always caring for everybody.
Rachel was a member of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years; Dale Hild of Cozad, Nebraska; two sons, Mike Hild of Cozad, Nebraska, Doug (Deb) Hild of Elm Creek, Nebraska; daughter, Janet (Craig) McCollum of Columbus, Nebraska; brothers, Harlan Garringer of Lexington, Nebraska; Jerry Garringer of Holdrege, Nebraska; and, Keith Garringer of Kearney, Nebraska; two sisters, Thelma Sturgeon of Bellevue, Nebraska; and, Mary Garringer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; there brothers-in-law, LeRoy (Pat) Hild of Surprise, Arizona, Ron (Dixie) Hild of Millard, Nebraska; Richard Hild and his companion, Ron of New Mexico; many nieces, nephews, who lovingly referred to Rachel as Aunt Rachie, extended family and friends.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, son, Ricky; sisters, Fay Crow and Rhonda Trampe.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating.
It was Rachel’s wishes her body be cremated following the Prayer Service with Inurnment held later in Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
