Jayne Pierce, 93, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Callaway Good Life Center.
She was born May 16, 1919, in Loup City, Nebraska, to Rudolph Paul and Rose E. (Rowe) Schweitzer. She attended school in Loup City and graduated with the class of 1936. She taught school following her Normal Training for two years.
She was married to Donald Richard Pierce in 1938, one son was born to this marriage; Don. Donald passed away in May of 1943. Following his death Jayne moved back home to Loup City and worked in the Dress Shop. On May 29, 1945, she married Hazen Pierce in Norton, Kansas. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Vickey and Steve. They resided on the family farm between Callaway and Oconto until 1995, when they moved to Callaway.
Jayne was a wonderful cook, known for her German Coffee Cake and a gifted seamstress. But, her most beloved times were spent with her family. She was a member of the Callaway United Methodist Church and Lower Lodi Women’s Club.
Survivors include; two sons, Don (Chong Ye) Pierce of Papillion, Nebraska; Steve (Alice) Pierce of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Vickey (Terry) Dodge of Rock Hill, South Carolina; six grandsons, Michael (Tammy) Pierce of Derby, Kansas; Douglas (Nancy) Pierce of Durham, NC; Jeff (Neely) Dodge of Summit, NJ; Mark Dodge of Denver, Colorado; Trevor (Heather) Pierce of Berthoud, Colorado; and, Sean (Sara) Pierce of North Platte, Nebraska; nine great-grandchildren.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Donald and Hazen; two brothers, William and Gerald Schweitzer; and, one sister, Fern.
Funeral Celebration of Life will be Thursday, March 28, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with Reverend Roger Gillming officiating.
Visitation is Wednesday, March 27, 2013, 5-7 p.m. at the Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.
Memorials are suggested to Callaway Good Life Center or AserCare Hospice in Kearney.
