Randy Adams, 54, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington following a courageous fight with cancer. He was born March 25, 1953, at Lexington, Nebraska to Robert H. and Catherine M. (Purintun) Adams. Randy grew up on the farm and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1971. He played football in school and made the All-State Team in Class B in 1970. His team was the Nebraska Class B State Champion. Coach Bob Devaney tried to entice Randy to play for the University of Nebraska, but farming was in his blood and decided to stay on the farm. He enjoyed farming, Fantasy Football, being with his buddies, but, most especially being with his oldest nephew, Adam. Adam would come and spend the summers with grandma, grandpa and Randy; they were like two peas in a pod. Adam learned how to do the chores and spending time with Randy is a memory he will always cherish. Randy also cared deeply for his other nephew and two nieces; Caid, Allie & Holli. Randy attended Fairhaven Baptist Church in his youth. Those who knew Randy well, knew him to be a bear of a man with a heart the size of Nebraska. He will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his parents: Robert and Catherine Adams of Lexington, Nebraska One sister: Ann (Bill) Verzani of South Sioux City, Nebraska Two nephews and two nieces: Adam, Caid, Allie and Holli Verzani. Cousins, other relatives and many, many friends. Aunt: Eilene Jones of Overton, Nebraska Uncle: Charles (Kathryn) Purintun of Gothenburg, Nebraska Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents; and one brother, Dave, and several aunts and uncles. Services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at Lexington Christian Church in Lexington with Pastor Thayne Moore, officiating. The Casket will be closed at the church. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be Thursday, March l3, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Donor’s Choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
