Irene Mae Loschen, 95, of Kearney, Nebraska, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She was born July 26, 1912, at Upland, Nebraska, to Sylvester and Nellie (Ganger) Soucie.
Irene grew up in the Upland area and moved to Lexington after marrying George Loschen. They were married June 18, 1933, at Hildreth, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this union; Marvin, Phyllis and Larry.
She was the owner of Ma’s Kitchen and the G&I Ceramic Shop. Irene was always busy, either raising her family, working or being with friends. She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church, active in the Women’s Guild and Sunday school teacher. Irene and George enjoyed camping with the Good Samaritan Camping Club.
Irene loved doing and teaching ceramics, knitting, crocheting, camping, fishing, being with family. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo while living at St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Village in Kearney.
Survivors include one son: Marvin (Patsy) Loschen of Lexington, Nebraska
One daughter: Phyllis Murrish of Kearney, Nebraska
One daughter-in-law: Brenda Loschen of Evansville, Indiana
One brother: Bud (Ann) Soucie of Campbell, Nebraska
Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Larry; two granddaughters; one son-in-law, Keith; four brothers, Leo, Oliver, Calvin and Dwaine; and three sisters, Olive, Stella and Blanche.
Services will be Monday, March 3, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Megan Morrow officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 2, 2008, from 2-4 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
