Ruth Evelyn Anderson

Ruth Evelyn Anderson, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, February 1, 2013, at Lexington Regional Health Center. She was born December 6, 1927, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Paul I. and Viola M. (Goldstein) Stevens. Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Lincoln High School. Following graduation she worked for Russell-Stover Candy and Western Electric. Ruth was united in marriage to Richard “Andy” Anderson on August 3, 1947, in Lincoln. Three children were born to this marriage; Cindy, Richard, and Michael. The couple lived in Arvada, Colorado, Gretna, Nebraska, and retired to Lexington in 1991, to be near their daughter. She so enjoyed supporting her grandsons at their school activities. Ruth loved to read books and novels, golfing, bowling, knitting, fishing, camping and was known to spend some time playing slot machines. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years; Richard C. “Andy” Anderson of Lexington, Nebraska; daughter, Cindy (Roger) Reutlinger of Lexington, Nebraska; sons, Rick (Sheri) Anderson of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mike (Kathy) Anderson of Lathrop, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Chad (Stephanie) Reutlinger of Lexington, Nebraska; Troy (Maria) Reutlinger of Lexington, Nebraska; Corey Reutlinger of Fairfax, Virginia; Justin (Julia) Fry of Cross Lake, Minnesota; Jeremiah Brown of Lincoln, Nebraska; Jennifer (Matt) Meyer of Minneapolis, Kansas; Jennifer (Ben) Kapelke of Seattle, Washington; Justin James of Fort Collins, Colorado; and, Renee (Jason) Krause of Fort Collins, Colorado; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard in infancy and Kenneth Stevens and one sister, Phyllis Lou Ehly. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverends Philip Ehly and Caroline Vickery officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, February 4, 2013, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or the Donor’s Choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
