Norma Violet Hagan

March 16, 1931 — January 4, 2013

Norma Hagan, 81, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington. Norma was born to Jess and Minnie (Heaffner) Brisco on March 16, 1931, in Lexington, Nebraska. She married Kenneth Hagan on December 9, 1951, in Lexington. To this union one son Steven was born. Norma never lived more than five blocks away from where she was born. She was very proud of that. She and Kenneth made their last home just across the alley and down the block from her birth place. Norma was a spunky and quite determined woman. She loved family and because her mother passed away when she was just 9 years old, she always felt it was her responsibility to take care of her father Jess and her brother Junior. She did so with all the love and caring she could give them. She was very dedicated to Kenny and rarely went anywhere without him and was proud of their 60 years of marriage. When he passed away a large part of her went with him. She enjoyed family, she enjoyed having company and sharing coffee with anyone who would stop in to visit. She and Kenny always had the coffee ready and daily enjoyed having coffee with neighbors and her sister-in-law Janice Hagan, nephew Butch Hagan and his wife Dot (Dorothy). Norma and Kenny managed the White Island Cafe’ for several years, she then cleaned homes for several Lexington families. She spent many years assisting her brother Junior in his greenhouse business that was located on the family land on West High Street. One of Norma’s favorite activities later in life was going for “a ride with Ken” and then “people watching at Walmart”. Norma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Rochelle (Jones) Hagan, Rochester, MN, granddaughter Amanda (Dain) Kavars, Muncie, IN, grandson Kent (Heidi Mueske) Hagan of Rochester, MN, great-grandchildren, Olivia and Emmalyn Kavars of Muncie, IN, and Gavin Hagan of Rochester, MN. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Janice Hagan and sister-in-law, Lucille Hagan all of Lexington, NE; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clifford and Lois Hagan of Elwood, NE; sister-in-law, Verla Whidby of Victorville, CA; and Velma and Bill Blythe of Brownwood, TX. Also surviving are niece, Veronia (Tommy) Smith and nephew, Butch (Dorothy) Hagan of Lexington, NE, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in September of 2012, her parents, and her brother, Junior Brisco. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Duane Russell officiating.
