Ann B. King

October 29, 1927 — December 30, 2012

Anna Mae (Bruch) King passed away at the Lexington Regional Hospital following a stroke. She was a recent resident of the Plum Creek Care Center. She was married to William Wayne King, her life partner of 64 years, who preceded her in death four months earlier. Anna Mae Bruch King born October 29, 1927, in Genoa, Colorado, and died December 30, 2012, in Lexington, Nebraska. William Wayne King born October 7, 1926, in Cameron, Missouri, and died August 19, 2012, in Bastrop, Texas. Ann and Wayne were married March 7, 1948, in Cameron, Missouri. There were three children born of the marriage, Lou Ann King of Bastrop, Texas; Sam King of Conifer, Colorado; Teri R. Welsh Gould of Lexington, Nebraska. They celebrated the arrival of six grandchildren to the family, Michael Welsh and Raechel Gould of Denver, Colorado, Brian D. King, Julia R. King, Valerie King, and Jessica King of Conifer, Colorado. Their married life began on a dairy farm in rural Missouri where Wayne, following a tour of duty in the Navy during WW II, became a letter carrier for the post office and farmer. After the birth of the three children, Ann returned to school to become a RN and shortly after became a CRNA. Ann was an excellent nurse and loved especially working in surgery, but both worked hard all of their lives. After Wayne retired, they sold the farm and moved to Conifer, Colorado, where they built their home of 23 years. They were happy together in the mountains and lived close to their son, Sam and his family, as well as their daughter, Teri and her family. Many hours were spent in the company of their children and grandchildren. By far, the love of their lives was their grandchildren. Ann and Wayne were service minded, willing to help others in need, and instilled a strong work ethnic in all of their children. In the last four years of their lives together, they lived with their eldest daughter in Texas. Following Wayne’s death, Ann moved to Lexington to live with her youngest daughter, Teri and her husband, Stan. In celebration of their long lives together, we will remember all the many happy and challenging times together, the gifts left to each of us, and the impression placed on our hearts. A Celebration of Life Remembrance Service for Wayne and Anna will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating. There will be no visitation as Mr. & Mrs. King’s bodies have been cremated. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
