Ruth E. Hemphill, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Sunday, February 3, 2008, at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
She was born June 21, 1925, at Cozad, Nebraska to Emil and Leta (Lanphear) Anderson.
Ruth moved with her family as a young girl to the Eddyville area, where she graduated from High School with the class of 1942. She then went on to teach in rural area schools for a couple of years.
She was united in marriage to Harold Zimmerman on December 14, 1942, five children were blessed to this union; Dean, Sharon, Doris, Charlene and Duane, who is deceased. Harold preceded her in death on October 11, 1963. She was then united in marriage to Howard Robinson in 1965, he also preceded her in death. She then married Doyle Hemphill on July 21, 2000, at Jeffrey Lake.
Ruth helped raise many children in the Lexington as she had a Day Care in her home. Many of her former children still regard her with fond memories to this day and would stop and visit when they would see her around town. She also helped plan dinners and decorate for special occasions at Eastlawn. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable garden, playing bingo, pitch and Canasta. She loved her beloved Schnauzer dog, Princess.
Many folks around the area may remember Ruth and her Ceramic Shops. But, near and dear to her heart were her “kids”. She loved family get-togethers and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be so very missed.

One sister: Helen Dewey of Kimberly, Idaho
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Ruth was preceded in death, besides by her husbands, by her parents; son, Duane Zimmerman; brother, Walter Anderson, and sister, Marjorie Vance.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Todd Karges, officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2008, from 4-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, The Lymphoma Society or the Donor’s Choice.
