Robert Lee "Bob" Reed

Robert L. “Bob” Reed, 54, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, following a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born December 11, 1957, in Lexington, Nebraska to Robert E. and Nola (Jones) Reed. He was a 1976 graduate of Overton High School, and went on to further his education at Hastings Technical College where he attained his Parts Countermen Certification. Upon his graduation he returned to Lexington where he began his career at Fairbanks International in May of 1977, as Parts Manager, a position he still held at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Morgan on August 13, 1977, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Megan and Adam. Bob’s career at International was a passion of his and he was asked to serve on several boards throughout the years; most notably, the PSDC (Product Support Development Council), Case Advisory boards, and he was instrumental in forming the Nebraska Parts Managers Board. The friendships forged through his job were a huge part of his life. Bob enjoyed traveling, collecting International Harvester toys, fishing with friends in Alaska, Canada and Mexico, cooking, especially soups, and his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers and Nebraska Volleyball teams. His first love was his family, especially his five little grandkids whom he loved immensely. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was currently serving as Elder. Survivors include his wife of 35 years: Mary Reed of Lexington, Nebraska; children, Adam (Elizabeth) Reed and their children, Lauren and Mason of Bellevue, Nebraska; Megan (Trevor) Pope and their children, Jarin, Hunter, and Evan of Bennet, Nebraska; parents, Bob & Nola Reed of Lexington, Nebraska; brother, William (Carol) Reed of Highland Village, Texas; sisters, Robin (Bob) Clark of Bellevue, Nebraska, Mary (Dan) Luton of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Becky (Eric) Lowry of Fremont, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Marcia Morgan of Lexington, Nebraska; special sisters-in-law, Sarah (Jon) Taylor of Lexington, Nebraska and Sue Maurstad of Colorado; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends; including, Special Friend Rachel Oelkers of Elwood, Nebraska. Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law, Merle Morgan. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Monday, November 26, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
