Marilyn Marie Foster, 74, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Country House Residences in Lincoln. She was born November 22, 1937, in Minden, Nebraska, the only child of Earnest and Anne (Meents) Jensen. Marilyn attended school at Minden, graduating salutatorian of her class. She received both her B.A. in Education and her M.A. in Guidance and Counseling at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Marilyn was a nationally certified School Psychologist. Her career included teaching at Stromsburg High School, Lincoln Public Schools, Eastern Illinois University and 25 years with Bellevue Public Schools and CHAP (Children Have a Potential). Marilyn dedicated her life to working and helping children of all age levels. She had a fondness for the handicapped working with various groups through the years. She had a love for music, played the piano and sang most of her life in church choirs. She was united in marriage to Clifton Neal Foster on August 24, 1962, in Minden, Nebraska. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Clifton of Lincoln, Nebraska; her children, John Foster of San Francisco, California; Matthew (wife, Beth, daughters, Josephine and Eva ) of Seattle, Washington; Natalie Foster Anderson (husband Rob, daughters Joelly and Camille), Lexington, Nebraska; and Halcyon Foster (son Rhys and daughter Kate Foster-Figari). Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Anne Jensen. Marilyn’s wishes for cremation were honored by her family. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Tess Hufford officiating. Inurnment will be in the First United Methodist Church Columbarium. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Donor’s Choice.
