Lynda Jewel Gardner

Lynda Jewel Gardner, 72, of Cozad, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born February 5, 1940, in Cowley, Wyoming to Harry and Evelyn (Madsen) Gardner. Lynda attended elementary and high school in Cozad, Nebraska. Lynda went on to attend nursing school in Lubbock, Texas. She was united in marriage to George F. Maloley in December of 1959. Four children were blessed to this marriage, Nick, Jody, Jeff, and Skip. Lynda loved to travel always making friends wherever the road took her. Lynda worked on the farm and owned several businesses, putting heart and soul into whatever needed to be done. From taking care of baby sheep and pigs to baking some of the best pies at the Evening Star Café, which she ran with her family for five years in Cozad. She lived on a ranch for a short time outside of Paxton, Nebraska. She drove Mega trucks at gold mines in Nevada and operated a motel in North Platte, Nebraska. Lynda loved watching chickens and raised many flocks over the years. Lynda knew the rewards of hard work and enjoyed laughter in all she did. Lynda was a very spiritual person always traveling with her Bible. She attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kearney, Nebraska. Survivors include four children; Nick (Sandy) Maloley of North Glenn, Colorado; Jody Maloley of New Castle, Colorado; Jeff (Stacy) Malooley of Kearney, Nebraska; Skip (Julie) Maloley of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Jacquoline Smith of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren; Josh Boyce, of North Glenn, Colorado; Kaitlyn and Shaylee Maloley of New Castle, Colorado; Jared and Mckenna Malooley of Kearney, Nebraska; Madeline, Meredith, Samuel, Caroline, Clara, Jacob, and Zachary Maloley of Omaha, Nebraska; two great-grandchildren; Kayden Boyce and Josia Boyce of North Glenn, Colorado, many nieces and nephews. Lynda was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard Gardner. Services will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Seventh Day Adventist Church-3312 Ave. B in Kearney, Nebraska with Pastor Jim Martin and Pastor Lawrence Francis officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery north of Cozad, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
