Alicemae Holland, 65, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012, at her home in Lexington.
She was born June 14, 1947, in Kearney, Nebraska to John E. and Frances (Shimonek) Holland. Alicemae grew up in Overton and attended Overton schools.
Alicemae was a special child of God as she was born with disabilities. She loved competing on the bowling team for Special Olympics, reading, especially Nancy Drew mysteries, going on trips as a snowbird to Texas with her family. She also traveled with her South Central family to Branson, Missouri and Dodge City, Kansas. She attended People First activities, and loved dancing to the Lawrence Welk Show. Alicemae absolutely loved her beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers and never missed watching a game.
Alicemae lived a full and happy life and will never be forgotten.
She was a member of the Overton Methodist Church.
Survivors include two brothers: Bill (Olga) Holland of San Diego, California
Tom (Mary Jo) Holland of Gloucester, Massachusetts.
One sister: Kathy (Gary) Horn of Elwood, Nebraska
Many nieces and nephews.
Alicemae was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bob and Larry; one sister, Marianne, and one brother-in-law, Kent Gardner.
Funeral Services will be Friday, November 16, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Overton, Nebraska with Reverend Steve Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to South Central Developmental Center or Special Olympics.
