R. Elsie (Halouska) Edmunds

R. Elsie (Halouska) Edmunds, 81, of Abilene, Kansas, formerly of Lexington, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012, in Abilene, Kansas. She was born January 1, 1931, in Merna, Nebraska, the daughter of Claus P. and Clara Anna Marie (Forsberg) Christensen. Growing up in Merna and Westerville, she attended local schools, graduated from Westerville High School class of 1949, and attended Kearney State College. On October 14, 1950, she was married to Elmer Halouska in Arnold, Nebraska. Most of their married life was spent in Lexington, Nebraska. Elsie taught in a rural school for five years in the early 1950’s, and had been employed by the Monroe Auto Company in Cozad, Nebraska for 26 years. Elmer preceded her in death on November 7, 1998. In 1999, she married Rev. Donald Shaw. Most of their married life was spent in Kansas City, Kansas and Abilene. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2007. On February 8, 2011, she was married to Floyd Edmunds, the couple lived in Abilene, Kansas. Elsie was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington, she taught Sunday school for many years and was active in women’s missions. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary. She was presently a member of Emmanuel Church in Abilene. Survivors include her husband; Floyd Edmunds of Abilene, KS; daughter, Marvel (Craig) Harmoney of Lexington, NE; son, Gaylon Halouska of Callaway, NE; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Elsie was preceded in death, besides by her husbands, by her parents; son, Elmer R. Halouska; grandson, Nathan Halouska, and three sisters. A Memorial Book Signing with Family present will be Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska. Inurnment will be Friday, October 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Funeral Services were held previously in Abilene, Kansas on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Church with Pastor Shane Britt officiating.
