Ruben Maravilla Cortez

October 5, 1944 — October 9, 2012

Ruben Maravilla Cortez, 68, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away tragically as the result of a traffic accident early Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Lexington. He was born October 5, 1944, in a small town in Michoacan, Mexico to Francisco Maravilla Cortez and Raquel Cortez Alejandre. Ruben moved to the United States in the early 1970’s where he worked in the vineyards in California. He was united in marriage to Delfina Servin in 1969, in Mexico. He moved his family to Lexington in 1996, where they have made their home ever since. He was a hard worker and worked in processing at Tyson Fresh Meats in Lexington. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He raised a large garden and always helped Delfina with her flowers. He will be so very missed by his large, loving family and close circle of friends. Survivors include his wife: Delfina Maravilla of Lexington, NE; children, Ruben (Lidia) Maravilla, Jr. of Lexington, NE; Juan M. (Adriana) Maravilla of Lexington, NE; Isidro Maravilla of Lexington, NE; Maria (Orio) Alvarez of Lexington, NE; and Ana (Ramon) Aguilera of Mexico, and six grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers and sisters; Raul Maravilla of Lexington, NE; Vidal (Lourdes) Maravilla and Abel (Teresa) Maravilla of Lexington, NE; sisters, Nena (Raul) Bega of Fresno, CA; Esperanza (Mario) Ramirez; Elvira Maravilla, Catalina Maravilla of Mexico, and Raquel (Manuel) Orsco of Mexico, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ruben was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jose and one sister, Gloria. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Jorge Canela officiating. Rosary will be recited on Friday, October 12, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington. Interment decisions are still pending. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
