Carroll E. Clements, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington.
He was born November 20, 1929, at Valentine, Nebraska to Charles E. and Blanche (Shulenberger) Clements.
Carroll moved to Overton as a young boy where he attended school and graduated in 1947. Following graduation he worked in Holdrege for a time for a concrete company and this is where he met his future bride, Billie Peck. The couple was married June 3, 1951, in Holdrege. Two sons were blessed to this marriage; Ed & Bill. After the couple’s marriage they moved to Overton where Carroll worked for the Smith brothers farming. He then worked for Hodgson Installation for the next 15 years and finished his career in small engine repair at John Deere, retiring after 38 years. After retirement he did small engine repair, mostly mowers, from his garage at home.
Carroll enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and watching his beloved Cornhuskers with his family around the TV. He spent many hours watching his sons’ sporting events, working the football games on the “Chain Gang Crew”, attending his weekly Rotary meetings, and just living life. Carroll always had a smile on his face and a joke for his friends and really never knew a stranger.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Rotary International.
