Audrey Elaine Hardesty, 84, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012, at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Audrey was born May 6, 1928, in Henry, Nebraska to Cecil and Lora (Richardson) Haddix. She grew up in the Henry, Nebraska and Yoder, Wyoming area, where she graduated from Yoder High School with the Class of 1945. She married the love of her life, Lloyd “Hap” Hardesty on November 10, 1946, at Torrington, Wyoming.
The couple moved to Lexington in March of 1959. Audrey was employed at Home Federal Savings and Loan for 22 years and the Methodist Church office for 4 years.
Audrey was always active in the community and enjoyed her membership in the First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Deborah Circle. She was also a member of the Bonneville Chapter of DAR, the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served on the Council, the Plum Creek Garden Club and VFW Auxiliary.
Audrey had a wonderful sense of humor and loved having family and friends over for dinners and get-togethers. Her family; especially her grandchildren, were her pride and joy. Audrey enjoyed collecting Angels, items from their travels and anything near and dear to her heart, which she enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years: Lloyd “Hap” Hardesty of Lexington, NE
Children: Glenn (Jan) Hardesty of Lexington, NE; Lynee (Tim) McGuire of Lexington, NE; and Tom (Debbie) Hardesty of Lincoln, NE.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren with one on the way, many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Robert & (Harriett) Haddix; one infant sister, Bonnie Haddix; two daughters, Renee Beans and Candis Rittgarn, and grandson, Edward.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Tess Hufford officiating.
Burial will be in the Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
