Marvin Frank Tiede

Marvin Frank Tiede, 82, of Grand Island, Nebraska, formerly of Overton, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. He was born March 14, 1930, in Iliff, Colorado to Karl F. and Edna (Ashbaugh) Tiede. Marvin moved with his family as a boy to Overton, Nebraska. He graduated from Overton High School. Marvin served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force from October 5, 1950, until being honorably discharged on October 4, 1954. Marvin was united in marriage to Donella Heath on September 7, 1951, in Overton. One son, Garry was blessed to this marriage. The family moved to various places in Nebraska; including Elm Creek, Minden, Lexington and then the family spent over 20 years in Grant. Marvin worked for Roberts Cattle Company in Lexington and Grant. While living in Grant, he was active in the Lion’s Club, Farm Bureau and served on the Grant COOP board. When Garry was small Marvin was a Boy Scout leader. He was also a member of the Lexington and Overton American Legions. Marvin was a member of the United Methodist Churches in Grant and Overton. Survivors include his son; Garry (Shari Wenick) of Odessa, Nebraska Three brothers: Karl (Beulah) Tiede of Overton, Nebraska Murl (Eileen) Tiede of Elwood, Nebraska Fred Tiede of Belen, New Mexico One sister: Martha Tiede of Kearney, Nebraska Close Friends: Gene & Dorothy Terry of Lewellen, Nebraska Mother-in-law: Mildred Heath of Curtis, Nebraska Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donella in 2006; two brothers, Jim and Joy and one sister, Marvelle. It was Marvin’s wishes that his body be cremated. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be Thursday, September 20, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Overton, Nebraska with Reverend Steve Smith officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in the Overton Cemetery at Overton. Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
