Lois Jean Williams

Lois Jean Williams, 89, of rural Eddyville, Nebraska, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012, at her home. She was born March 3, 1923, in her family’s home at rural Eddyville to Clarence and Ruth (Eastwood) Walter. Jean graduated from Eddyville High School with the class of 1940, and then worked for a year at the Eddyville High School. On December 21, 1942, she married the love of her life, Thurman Williams, in Lexington. One son was blessed to this marriage; Ross. Jean was active at an early age in livestock production and worked hard in helping on the family farm. She milked cows, sold cream and had a spotless milking parlor. Jean was also very active in the church; being a Sunday school teacher and youth worker. Jean was also involved in Women’s Church groups and received her 75 year membership pin. She was a tireless 4-H mother and grandmother. Jean was an avid reader and wrote in a journal everyday throughout her life. Jean was born on the family farm and lived a full life there and died peacefully in her chair, which was a blessing and great memory for all her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband: Thurman Williams of Eddyville, Nebraska One son: Ross and wife Carol Williams of Eddyville, Nebraska Two grandsons: Bryce and wife Diana Williams of Eddyville, Nebraska Greg and wife Tara Williams of Oconto, Nebraska Five great-grandchildren: Sage, Tennyson, Gracie, Ava & Ella Numerous nieces, nephews and many friends Jean was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister Funeral Services will be Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Eddyville United Methodist Church with Reverend Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Jewell Cemetery at Sumner, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Monday, September 10, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
