Mary Elizabeth Petersen, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
Mary was born August 13, 1923, in Welch, OK. to Glen and Naomi (Chavers) Williamson. Mary attended grade school and graduated from Welch High School class of 1941.
Following graduation Mary worked in Kearney, NE where she met her husband of 54 years, Archie Petersen. They were united in marriage on April 21, 1946, in Kearney, and were blessed with one daughter, Donna.
Mary was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, VFW Auxiliary, her “Do Nothing” Club and “Red Hat” Society. She enjoyed crocheting and plastic needlework, reading, collecting Precious Moments figurines, playing the organ, cards and board games, as well as playing Bingo. Her favorite pastime, though, was spoiling her three grandchildren and, most recently, her great grandson.
Mary is survived by daughter, Donna (Dale) Holbein of Lexington, NE., three grandchildren, Denise (Greg) Behrends of Hastings, NE., Daryn (Nicole) Holbein of Okmulgee, OK., Dahlas (Amy) Holbein of Lexington, NE., and great grandson, Carson Holbein of Lexington, NE.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Petersen; parents, Glen and Naomi Williamson; sister, Eva Russell; brother, Conrad Williamson; and infant great grandsons, Carter Edward and Caden Eugene Holbein.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 23, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Pastor Kyron C. BeDunnah officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
The family will be greeting friends during visitation at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Children’s Hospital of Omaha or the donor’s Choice.
