H. Dale Kugler, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska died on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
He was born on June 22, 1927 to Henry and Georgia (Zimmerer) Kugler in Lexington. Dale attended rural school at District #52, and then attended high school from 1941-1942, but graduated with the class of 1945, due to enlisting into the United States Army Air Corps on October 28, 1944. Dale was sent to Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and later at South Dakota State College in Brookings, South Dakota. He served his country in Army of Occupation Germany and was honorably discharged on February 1, 1947.
Dale was united in marriage to Louise Nisley in Gothenburg, Nebraska on December 28, 1947. This marriage was blessed with four children.
He then attended Nebraska Agriculture College and Nebraska Wesleyan, began farming, feeding cattle and raising hogs with his father in 1949.
Dale served on the University of Nebraska Agriculture Advisory Board, Nebraska Brand Committee, and various agriculture and livestock organization committees. He was also an Instrument rated pilot. Dale was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and the Tri-County Shriners. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. His other hobbies included restoring antique and classic cars, motorcycles and airplanes as well as metal artwork.
Dale was united in marriage to Delores “Dee” Hibberd-Stienmetz on March 3, 1995 Dee’s two children blessed this union.
Survivors include his wife Delores "Dee" Kugler of Lexington, Nebraska; son, John and wife Cyndi Kugler of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Becky Kugler of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Peggy and husband Brad Hurrell, of Charlotte, North Carolina; son, Lane and wife Peggy Kugler, of Plum Creek Canyon, Nebraska; 9 adored grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; step-daughter Julie and husband Gerald Polmateer and step-daughter, Jill Stienmetz; as well as a host of loved and admired friends, nationwide.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Delphia Edwards and Carol Peterson.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Rev. John Shields officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Dale’s wish to be cremated.
