Peggy L. Childress, 84, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Lexington Regional Health Center.
Peggy was born September 18, 1927, at Stamford, Nebraska to Archie A. and Sadie N. (Davis) Longsine. Following Peggy’s graduation from Stamford High School in 1944, she went onto further her education at Lincoln School of Commerce.
She moved to Lexington in 1948. Always active and busy, she worked for Kiffin-Murphy Agency, Dick Hill Ford in Kearney, Hodges Chevrolet, Orthman Manufacturing, and owned and operated her own business, P.C. Services, for many years. She retired just last May from Walmart.
She was always so helpful and loved belonging to the Soroptimist Club, where she served as Vice-President and chairman of the Christmas Ball project. Peggy enjoyed crocheting, tatting and knitting; also, playing various card games with friends and family along with gambling and bingo. But, most especially, being with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Twins, Tom (Darlene) Childress of Albany, GA, Don (Ingrid) Childress of Helena, MT; Dick (Arletta) Childress of Lexington, NE; daughter, Theresa (Ray) Gonzalez of Lexington, NE.
Grandchildren: Mark (Andrea) Childress of Lakeland, FL, Jeff (Tara) Childress of Albany GA, Greg Childress of Durango, CO, Jeremy (Andrea) Childress of Kearney, NE, Brad (Kristy) Childress of Kearney, Nathan (Kirstine) Rios of Lincoln, Andrew Rios of Chadron and Cecilia Rios of Lexington, Jamie (fiance' Scott) Gonzalez of Knoxsville, TN, Jerry (Fiancee Ashley) Kincheloe of North Platte, Jesse (Katie) Kincheloe of Gothenburg and eleven great-grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Francis, Frank and Archie Longsine, Jr.
Funeral Services will be Friday, July 13, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
