Maxine E. (Arrants) Parks, 85, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. She was born August 29, 1926, in Bayard, Nebraska, to John B. & Elsie B. (Fiscus) Arrants. Maxine grew up in Morrill County and attended schools in Angora and Bridgeport. She was united in marriage to Homer Parks on September 22, 1944, at Bridgeport, Nebraska. To this union three children were born: George, Elsie and Katherine. Homer and Maxine lived throughout the Sandhills in many different places before settling in Callaway, coming from Lake Minatare in 1989. Maxine had various jobs including a ranch and school cook, waitress and also worked in a lab at the Scottsbluff Hospital. When Homer and Maxine moved to Callaway they ran Parks Daycare for twenty years. Maxine was a member of various women’s groups. She helped start the “Compassionate Friends” group in North Platte. She was also a member in the Genealogy Society. Maxine had many hobbies which included sewing, crocheting, quilting, collecting stamps and arrowheads. She enjoyed genealogy and was an avid cook. Maxine loved children and always was there to lend a hand when a parent needed help with a child. Her pride and joy was her family. Family was very important to Maxine and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her daughter: Katherine Chu of Ogallala, Nebraska. Son-In-law: Charles Trumbull of Callaway, Nebraska Seven Grandchildren: Kent and wife Molly Trumbull; Dan and wife Jolleen Trumbull; Willy Trumbull and fiancé Christie, all of Callaway, Nebraska; Katrina Chu of Redmond, Washington; Erica Chu of Chicago, Illinois; Sara and husband Adam Brady of Fort Worth, Texas, and Winston Chu of Ogallala, Nebraska. Five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. One Sister Bessie Hubbard of Bayard, Nebraska. Three sisters-in-law: Ethel Arrants of Kearney, Gladys Arrants of Alliance, and Phyllis of California. Two brothers-in-law: Maurice Parks of O’Neill and Harold Parks, Jr., of Ewing, Nebraska. One Aunt: Ethel Plock of Bridgeport, Nebraska. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Homer; son, George; daughter, Elsie and two brothers, John and Bob. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Callaway Community Center with Pastor Dean Haidle, officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, July 2, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway.
