Margie H. Headley, 83, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the Callaway Good Samaritan Center. She was born August 27, 1928, in Callaway, Nebraska, to Cleveland A. & Mattie M. (Price) Pitkin. Margie graduated from Callaway High School in 1945. Margie attended Kearney Normal School, where she received her teaching certificate. She married Dean Headley on July 27, 1947, on her parents’ home place. This marriage was blessed with five children: Roger, David, Becky, Carol & Jeffery. The family moved around some before settling back in Callaway in 1963. Dean and Margie ran Dean’s Market from 1963 to 1971. After managing the grocery store, Margie worked in social services at the Callaway Good Samaritan Center for the next 22 years. Margie was very active in the United Methodist Church and was a member for over 60 years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxillary and belonged to the HHH Club, which was very important to her. Margie enjoyed reading and working on genealogy, she could give you a history lesson on Custer County and Callaway. Margie loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her loving husband: Dean Headley of Callaway, Nebraska. Three sons: Roger and wife Jaclynn Headley of Gothenburg, Nebraska David and wife Terri Headley of Wayne, Nebraska Jeffery Headley of Kearney, Nebraska Two Daughters: Becky and husband Tim Nickel of Waverly, Nebraska Carol and husband Ron Koch of Minden, Nebraska One brother: Tony and wife Beverly Pitkin of Callaway, Nebraska One sister-in-law and long-time friend: Mildred Pitkin of Callaway, Nebraska Ten grandchildren & eleven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Charles and Ira Pitkin and two sisters: Thelma G’Schwind and Freda Lindstedt Funeral Services will be Friday, June 29, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway, Nebraska, with Reverend Roger Gillming & Pastor Dean Haidle, officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 28, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway.
