Bonny Jean Achterberg

Bonny Jean Achterberg, 78, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Sunday, September 23, 2007, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington. She was born December 16, 1928, at Callaway, Nebraska to Crist and Hilder (Andersen) Estergard. Bonny was a graduate of Callaway High School and the Methodist Hospital Nursing program at Omaha. Bonny worked as a registered nurse in Omaha, Callaway, Cozad and Lexington. She was united in marriage to Martin Achterberg on April 12, 1956, at First Lutheran Church at Buffalo. The couple made their home near Oconto prior to moving to Park Avenue Estates at Lexington. Bonny enjoyed gardening; both flowers and vegetables, needlework, quilting, crocheting and painting pictures. She was a member of First Lutheran Church at Buffalo. Survivors include her husband: Martin Achterberg of Lexington, Nebraska One brother: Bob (Gayle) Estergard of Callaway, Nebraska One sister: Alice VanCleave of Callaway, Nebraska Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bonny was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, LeRoy and Edwin and two sisters, Betty and Donna. Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church at Buffalo with Vicar Victor Rasmussen, officiating. Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery southwest of Oconto, Nebraska. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time Thursday morning. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church at Buffalo or the Lutheran Hour.
