Gwen Marie (Paulsen) Walker, 52, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at her home near Lexington, surrounded by her loving family following a short illness.
She was born April 13, 1955, at Cozad, Nebraska to Earl and Doris ( Ballmer) Paulsen.
Gwen grew up in Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1973. She was united in marriage to Jeff A. Walker on December 15, 1973, at the Methodist Church in Cozad. One daughter, Jamie, was blessed to this union.
Gwen was a lover of animals. She rode horses in 4-H and competed in horse shows. She drove a school bus for a time, took care of the family’s cattle and did the bookkeeping for Walker Roofing and the family farm.
She enjoyed going to the lake, camping, fishing and Nascar racing. Gwen was such a kind person with a kind heart. People knew where they stood with her and that was the one attribute her family and friends will always cherish. She loved being with her family and her dogs, Zack and Maya, (and any other stray animal that came on the place).
Gwen was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Survivors include her mother: Doris Paulsen of Cozad, Nebraska
Husband: Jeff A. Walker of Lexington, Nebraska
Daughter and son-in-law: Jamie and Ben Clark of Kansas City, Missouri
One brother: Todd Paulsen of Bellevue, Nebraska
One sister: Jodi & Mike Jack of Marble Falls, Texas
Brother-in-law: Donn Walker of Lexington
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Gwen was preceded in death by her father and father-in-law and mother-in-law.
It was Gwen’s wishes her body be cremated.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 24, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Todd Karges, officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.
There will be no visitation.
The family has requested no flowers, but prefer memorials to the Kearney Humane Society in Kearney or the Wayside Waifs, Kansas City, Missouri.
