Thomas W. Eland, 93, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
Tom was born August 26, 1918, at Wisner, Nebraska to Ralph and Faye (Waller) Eland.
He was raised a farm north of Arapahoe, Nebraska and graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1936.
Tom was united in marriage to Thelma Lesher on October 12, 1949, at Washington, Kansas. Two daughters were blessed to this marriage; Susan and Glory.
He was a WWII United States Navy veteran who served from May 19, 1944, until his Honorable Discharge on March 6, 1946. His career as a Linotype Operator in the printing business took him all over the United States. The couple retired to Lexington in December of 1980. Tom then started a small lawnmower business in Lexington for several years.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion.
It was Tom’s wishes that his body be cremated and a memorial service will be held later with inurnment in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Glory (Frank) Henigan of Lexington, NE
Eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
