Roy Wesley Houser, 63, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, following a heart transplant operation.
He was born December 8, 1948, in Eustis, Nebraska to Elmer Wesley and Ramona (Kirwin) Houser.
Roy attended school at Elwood, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Nancy Young on January 15, 1966, at Lexington, the marriage would later end in divorce and he then married Bonnie Trew on December 15, 1979, in Lexington. Roy farmed for most of his career and was working for Hershey Flying Service when he had his first heart attack and later had to stop working for health reasons.
To say Roy had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease is an understatement. He loved to tell jokes and stories and tease Bonnie. Family gatherings were some of his favorite times and he was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren. He loved to fish, be outdoors, and was an overall great guy who touched many lives. Roy was excited about the chance to be healthy again by being accepted into the heart transplant program, and although it did not work, he was able to give other’s life by donating his organs to people in need.
