Janet Lynn "Spiegel" Psota

Janet Lynn (Spiegel) Psota, 57, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, April 6, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer, at the Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington, Nebraska. She was born November 7, 1954, at Albion, Nebraska, to John E. “Jack” and Marilyn (Arthur) Spiegel. Janet was a 1973 graduate of Ravenna High School. Following high school she was a dispatcher for the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department until she married the love of her life, Kirk Psota on April 5, 1975, at Ravenna. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Rebecca and Russell. In 1984, the couple moved to Alliance, Nebraska where Janet worked as a dispatcher for the Alliance Police Department, she worked at two banks and for the law office of Jim Moravek. In 1992, they settled in Lexington, where Janet spent the next 20 years working as a Legal Assistant for Smith, Heldt and McKeone Law Office, Dave Smith Law Office and Ross, Schroeder and George Law Office until her death. She was the friendly face who greeted the clients as they entered the office. Janet had a special talent of always making you feel comfortable and loved. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, a former EMT with the Ravenna Volunteer Fire Department and the Ravenna Jaycees. In Lexington, she loved playing T.G.I.F. golf at Lakeside Country Club and helping Kirk with his projects. She loved to bake and make desserts. If you asked Janet about her granddaughters, her “little babies” her face would light up the room. She so loved her husband, kids, grandkids, siblings and friends. She is survived by her husband: Kirk Psota of Lexington, NE; son, Russell Psota of Lexington, NE; daughter, Rebecca (Matt) Garrelts of Eddyville, NE; granddaughters, Emily & Madilyn Garrelts of Eddyville, NE; brother, Michael (Raquel) Spiegel of Huntsville, AL; sister, Jill (Delbert) Weiser of Shelton, NE; two brothers-in-law, Kent (Dr. Dee) Psota of Kearney, NE; Kevin (Brandi) Psota of Ravenna, NE; two sisters-in-law, Karla (Terry) Steuben of Boelus, NE; Karen (Greg) Gascoigne of Callaway, NE; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Janet is preceded in death by her parents; In-laws, Mike & Barb Psota and sister-in-law, Kristine (Psota) Schneider. A Funeral Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating. In Honor of Janet’s fight and memory please wear something pink! Visitation will be Monday, April 9, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation. Burial will be Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Ravenna, Nebraska.
