Wilma Faye Nansel

Wilma Faye (Linn) Nansel, 81, of Lexington, Nebraska, died March 24, 2012 at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington, Nebraska. She was born November 22, 1930 in rural Lexington, Nebraska. She was the only child of Millard and Nellie (Peters) Linn. She attended rural school in Dawson County and graduated from Lexington High School in 1948 and Nebraska State Teachers College(University of Nebraska Kearney) in 1952. She taught high school business classes in Arnold, Nebraska for 1 year. Wilma married Wayne Nansel on June 6, 1953, in Lexington, Nebraska. The couple lived on Wayne’s family farm in Arnold, Nebraska until 1954 when they moved to her present home south of the Darr Bridge, the former Elmer Grafton farm. Wilma was a member of the Lexington First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of Presbyterian Women. She cherished any opportunity to enhance her extensive knowledge of the Bible and she lived by example of her strong faith in God. Playing rummy and joking around her family were favorite past times. She enjoyed farm life and especially gardening and raising chickens. Survivors include: two sons, Alan and Lynda Nansel, Little Rock, Arkansas, Gene Nansel, Lexington, Nebraska; three daughters, Kathy and Kent Trembly, Wahoo, Nebraska, Marcia Nansel and Marty Russon, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Diane and Mark Hall, Johnston, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Melissa (Christo) Philip, Jennifer (Ryan) Gross, Kristina Trembly, David (Lacy) Trembly, Andrew Czapla, Alyssa Czapla, Ian Nansel, Daniel Nansel, Reed Zapf and Rachel Heft; four great-grandchildren Karuna, Luke and Vivek Philip and Hadlee Trembly; two step-granchildren, Alexandra Russon and Andrew Russon. Wilma was preceded in death by: her husband, parents, a son-in-law Thomas Czapla, brother-in-law Gary Bassett, sister-in-law Charlotte Nansel, niece Sandra Coleman and grandchild, Ryan Zapf. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska. A private family burial service will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Lexington First Presbyterian Church, or the donor’s choice.
