Joseph E. Fleenor, 96, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington. He was born February 14, 1916, in Webster, Indiana to George and Susie (Moore) Fleenor. Joe attended school in Webster and after he was married the couple farmed and in the early 1950’s sold that farm and bought a farm near Greensfork, Indiana. In 1962, the family moved to Burwell, Nebraska that same year they bought the farm near Overton, Nebraska. Joe served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was honorably discharged on July8, 1946. He was united in marriage to Janet Brunton in Indiana and two boys were blessed to this marriage; Patrick & Michael. Joe and Janet loved to travel south during winters to McAllen, Texas. He enjoyed reading, gardening, staying busy, watching sports and tinkering. He was a huge Phoenix Suns fan. Survivors include two sons: Pat (Marcy) Fleenor of Overton, Nebraska Michael (Elvira) Fleenor of Van Nuys, California One sister: Betty McKinley of Phoenix, Arizona Six grandchildren: Kelly (Colleen) Fleenor of Kearney, Nebraska; Jade (Aaron) Benner of Kearney, Nebraska; Cassie Fleener and Mike Bennett of Gibbon, Nebraska; Ian FLeenor and Jessica Stauffer of Overton, Nebraska ; and two grandsons in California. Seven great-grandchildren: Abby, Corsa, Keelan, Ava, Lucia, Nikayla & Hadley. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet in 1990; one grandson, Chris Fleenor; sister and brother-in-law, Geneva & Tom Benham and one brother-in-law, Bob McKinley. Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 1, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating. Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery at Overton with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 29, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Overton Military Monument Fund. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
