Lois I. (Collins) Rhoadarmer

Lois I. (Collins) Rhoadarmer, 85, of Overton, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Eastmont Towers in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born August 12, 1926, in Irving, Michigan to Frank J. and Isa J. (Sowerby) Graham. At the age of 12 Lois moved to Washington, DC, with her mother and sisters. She graduated from high school there in 1944 and then worked for the U.S. Government. While attending a Methodist Youth Fellowship function she met a young Lieutenant on leave in DC, Arlyn Collins. They were married in DC on March 16, 1946, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Blenn, and her husband, Loren. Lois and Arlyn then moved to Nebraska. Lois worked at Miller & Paine while Arlyn pursued an engineering degree at UNL. Upon his graduation in 1950, they moved to Peoria, Illinois; and later, Joliet, Illinois; where Arlyn was employed as a design engineer for Caterpillar. They were blessed with their first child, Linda, in 1951. In 1955, Lois and family moved to Overton, Nebraska, where Arlyn co-founded Plectron Corporation with his friend, Keith Wycoff. The Collins Family grew to include David (1957) and Janet (1958). Lois was an inspiration to her children and very active and supportive of their numerous activities and pursuits. Arlyn died in 1967 in a plane crash. In 1980, Lois moved to Lexington, where she worked in the Dawson County Assessor’s office. Lois was married to Harold Boettcher from 1984 until he died in 1995, when she then returned to Overton. Lois was united in marriage to Clyde Rhoadarmer on April 22, 2001. The couple made their home in Overton. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ladies Extension Club, Garden Club and Eastern Star. Lois enjoyed time with her family and many friends, travel, gardening, attending dances and events. Survivors include her husband: Clyde Rhoadarmer, Overton Daughters: Linda (Roger) Wilkening, Lincoln Janet (Bradley) Gottula, Lincoln Son: David (Talaine) Collins, Park Rapids, MN Stepdaughters: Nancy Purintun, Kearney Clydene (Jerry) Purintun, Yukon, OK Four grandchildren: Jana (Matt) Farritor, Lincoln, NE; Mark Wilkening, Tucson, AZ; Trevor Gottula, Omaha, NE; and Bryan Gottula, Omaha, NE. Two step-grandchildren: Cliff (Julie) Frank, Bemidji, MN; Justin Olafson, Park Rapids, MN. Great-grandchildren: Emma & Cassandra Farritor, Lincoln; Kayla & Katrina Olafson, Park Rapids, MN; Ethan & Grace Frank, Bemidji, MN She is also survived by Clyde’s 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Arlyn and Harold; brothers, Kenneth, Morris & Evan; sisters, Eva & Blenn. Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 20, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Overton, Nebraska with Reverend Katherine Bullard officiating. Eastern Star Rites by Dawson Chapter #33 Order of the Eastern Star. Visitation will be Sunday, February 19, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Overton United Methodist Church or the Overton Military Monument Fund. Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery.
