Mario R. Arevalo Castaneda, 64, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Mario was born June 24, 1947, at Cuyotenango, Suchitepequez, Guatemala, to Juan J. and Maria Roselia Castaneda Arevalo.
He was united in marriage to Ethelvina Bonilla on July 3, 1970, at Guatemala. The family immigrated to the United States in the late 1970’s to Los Angeles, California. In 1998, the family moved to Lexington, where Mario worked in processing at IBP. His health would later force him to retire.
Mario’s family was his life and his love. He also enjoyed his church and his church family. He loved fishing, cooking, baking, working on his vehicles, traveling and having family get-togethers and BBQ’s. He had an excellent sense of humor and was always teasing the kids and grandkids. Mario will be so missed.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Ethel Arevalo of Lexington, Nebraska

Mario A. and Zulma Arevalo of Guatemala
Juan D. and Kim Arevalo of Los Angeles, California
Edwin L. and Bertila Arevalo of Lexington, Nebraska
Daniel A. Arevalo and his girlfriend Lacy Harvey of Lexington, Nebraska
One daughter: Sara Y. and Ubaldo Anaya of Lexington, Nebraska
Twenty-six grandchildren: William, Samuel, Rebecca, Jonathon, Yesenia, Crystal, Isaac, Mario, Genesis, Deborah, Sophia, J.D., Stephanie, Edwin, Ruby, Jocelyn, Jasmine, Junior, Sarah, Elisha, Danny, Jesse, Nini, Nevaeh, Selegna, Josiah and Isaias (who is to be born in April of 2012).
Mario’s brothers and sisters: Lidia, Marina, Graciela, Carmen, Juan, Reyna, Jose and Rosario.
Mario was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arturo.
Funeral Services will Saturday, December 24, 2011, at 12:00 Noon at Dios Es Amor Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Santos Ordonez officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 23, 2011, from 2-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
