Daniel Bernard Felker, 73, died at his home in Oro Valley, Arizona, on Sunday, December 4, 2011.
Dan was born on July 13, 1938 to Lewis and Florence (McFarland) Felker on their family farm near Eddyville, Nebraska. Dan was raised on the farm with his then 2 living siblings, was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and was a proud “Eddyville Cardinal” who graduated in a class of 11 from Eddyville High School in 1956.
He attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska graduating with a BA in Psychology in 1962. He subsequently received his Masters degree from the University of Nebraska. During their college years Dan met Mary Catherine Borkowski of St. Joseph, Missouri, and they were married in 1962. After beginning his army career in ROTC at Creighton, Dan served at Fort Benjamin Harrison (Indiana), Harrogate, England, & concluded his career as Captain at Fort Leonard Wood (Missouri). Subsequently Dan received his doctorate degree at University of Pittsburgh and spent his professional career at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and CALIBER in Pittsburgh and Washington D.C.
During their adult lives Dan was involved in neighborhood leadership and was an active volunteer at St. Thomas a’ Beckett Catholic Church in Reston, Virginia, their home of 35 years. In recent months Dan & Mary moved to Oro Valley, AZ.
Dan is survived by Mary Catherine, his wife of 49 years; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Aimee’ Felker of Santa Monica, CA; grandson William Felker of Santa Cruz, CA; and sister Nancy Felker of Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Florence Felker of Sumner, NE; infant sister Delores; sister Madeline Felker Rohde of Sumner, NE; and brother Lewis “Bud” Felker of Beaverton, OR.

Rosary on December 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington, NE
Reception on December 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Tub’s Pub in Sumner, NE
Funeral Mass on December 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eddyville, NE
