Margaret Ann Biehl, 83, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, November 25, 2011, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
She was born March 11, 1928, in Syracuse, Nebraska to Ervin and Anna (Teten) Poehler. Margaret was a graduate of Talmage High School in 1945. After high school, she moved to Lexington, Nebraska, where she met the love of her life, Harold A. Biehl. The two were united in marriage on September 4, 1946, at Christ Lutheran Church in Syracuse, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this marriage: Ellen, Dennis and Sarah.
The couple lived in Lexington following their marriage and enjoyed a rural lifestyle. They farmed and fed cattle north of Lexington for many years.
Margaret enjoyed crocheting and flowers. She worked for Mid-Nebraska Community Services where she cared for children and babies. She was also an avid sports fan, having enjoyed Lexington baseball and football as well as her beloved NU Cornhuskers for many years. She always had a bright disposition and a smile on her face that was especially radiant when she was discussing her family.
She was a 50+ year member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in church circles and the Mariner’s Club.
Margaret’s survivors include the following:
Three children: Daughter Ellen Kay (Drue) Sander of Ames, Iowa; son Dennis Harold Biehl of Lexington, Nebraska and daughter Sarah Louise (Kurt) Gauger of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Five grandchildren: Aaron (Trisha) Sander of West Des Moines, Iowa; Mark (Amanda) Sander of Thornton, Colorado; Courtney Biehl of Clearwater, Florida; Stephanie (Nate) Jasa of Thornton, Colorado and Andrew (Rebecca) Biehl of Papillion, Nebraska.
Eight great-grandchildren: Caleb & Kylie Sander; Carson & Burke Jasa; Abigail & Emerson Sander and Cole & Cale Mensah.
Two sisters-in-law: Barbara Poehler of Cozad, Nebraska and Eileen Biehl of Lexington, Nebraska.
Margaret is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold in 1993; her brother, Andy Poehler; her sister, Mary Ann Poehler, an infant brother and daughter-in-law, Lynda Biehl.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating.
Visiting time with family will be Tuesday, November 29, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. The casket will be closed.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or First Presbyterian Church.
