Lorraine O. G’Schwind, 91, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center in Callaway.
She was born August 8, 1920, at Merna, Nebraska to Arthur and Hulda (Nitz) Hirsch. Lorraine attended Wayside country school and graduated from Merna High School with the class of 1937. She was united in marriage to Herbert Arthur G’Schwind on October 30, 1939, at Merna, Nebraska. The couple lived on a farm near Callaway where their four children were born.
Lorraine enjoyed farm life, gardening, crafts, quilts, but mainly her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was confirmed in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at Merna and was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Broken Bow, where she played the organ for many years.
She leaves to mourn her three daughters and their families: DeAnne Edgington and her daughter, Heide (Ron) McOmber and their daughters, Heather & Holly McOmber all of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Ramona G’Schwind and her children, Robin (Scott) Likens and their children, Dillon and Jaylee Likens all of Hallam, Nebraska and Rob Edgington and his daughter, Joslyn of Callaway, Nebraska; Denise (Jerry) Nichelson of Callaway, Nebraska and their children, Herb Nichelson of Rhode Island and Hilary (Kurt) Holliday and their daughter, Haylen of Seward, Nebraska.
One brother: Eldon (Gwen) Hirsch of Winona, Minnesota
She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herb in 1977; son, Herbert Arthur in 1965, and two brothers, Loren and Harlan Hirsch.
Funeral Services will be Monday, November 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Broken Bow, Nebraska with Pastor Roger Quandt and Pastor Philip Hirsch.
Burial will be Monday after at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway, Nebraska.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 13, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. at the Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Seven Valleys Museum or Seven Valleys Senior Center in Callaway.
