Daniel C. Peppler, 74, of rural Cozad, Nebraska, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at the Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington.
He was born July 2, 1937, at Detroit, Michigan to Clare I. and Helen Irene (Williams) Peppler. His early years were spent in Alanson, MI with his parents and sisters Marjorie and Patricia. Dan moved to Miami, Florida with his parents in his early teens. He enjoyed the warm Florida climate and became a strong swimmer which resulted in teenage employment as a lifeguard at hotel pools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard an Aircraft Carrier in the Far East. After the Navy he lived in California where he did some modeling and had small parts in Western films. He later moved to Nebraska where he met and married Audrey (Wilcox) Bodfield on February 13, 1971, at Kearney, Nebraska. One daughter, Daneen, was blessed to this marriage.
While living in the Cozad/Lexington area he worked for the hay mill, Monroe Auto and Orthman Manufacturing. Dan enjoyed the outdoor life in Nebraska where his free time was spent hunting and fishing. Dan always had a love for Labrador Retrievers. He so enjoyed family time, especially spending time with his three granddaughters, Cheyenne, Savanah and Stormie.
Survivors include three daughters: Daneen (Justin) Hudson of Holdrege, NE; Audra (Bruce) Anderson of Lexington, NE; Danelle Caldwell of California.
Two sons: Danny Peppler, Jr. of California and Dean Peppler of California.
Two sisters: Marge (Milt) Hagen of Beaverton, OR and Pat (Lynn) Satchell of Hillsboro, OR.
Also, many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey in 2000; three sons, Paul “Buster” Bodfield, Michael Bodfield and Robbie Bodfield; four grandchildren, Robbie “Bub” Bodfield, Blue Bodfield, Shane Bodfield and Jayden Hudson. He was also preceded in death by his beloved Labs; Pep, Blondie, Bowie, Babe & Bud.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, November 10, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor K.C. BeDunnah officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington, Nebraska with Military Honors.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
