Fred Warnemunde, 94, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, at The Landing Assisted Living in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He was born November 30, 1916 in Oconto, Nebraska to Fred and Olga (Rohwer) Warnemunde. Fred was a 1933 graduate of Lexington High School and attended Kearney State College and University of Nebraska. He was a charter member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at the University.
Fred joined the Army in 1942, and was Captain until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was united in marriage to First Lieutenant Beverlye Hepburn at University Methodist Church in Seattle, Washington on April 16, 1944. The couple was married 67 years and was blessed with one daughter, Mary.
Fred was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, the Masonic Thistle Lodge #61 and the Tehama Shrine, as well as the American Legion.
He was a well-respected Insurance and Real-Estate Agent in Lexington for well over 40 years.
Survivors include his daughter: Mary Kriegler of Lincoln, Nebraska.
One grandson and his wife: Alan and Katie Kriegler of Lincoln, Nebraska.
One granddaughter and her fiancée: Melissa Kriegler and Paul Kozlowski of Portland, OR.
One great-grandson: Carter Kriegler of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Two sisters and their families: Helen Missel of Pocatello, Idaho along with her children;
Dr. Joe and wife Denise Missel of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Sarah and husband Ron Williams of Boise, Idaho.
Ruth Barton of Riverside, California along with her children; Dick Barton of Riverside, California; Dr. Robert Barton of San Clemente, California and Jane Barton of Houston, Texas.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Beverlye on July 29, 2011.
It was Fred’s wishes that his body be cremated and there will be no visitation.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery with Military and Masonic Rites.
Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department.
