Madonna Nichelson, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011, at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska.
She was born June 6, 1929, at Omaha, Nebraska to Claude and Edna (Lobdell) Janson. The family moved to Cozad when she was in the 8th grade, where she finished her schooling. She was united in marriage to Jim Nichelson on April 27, 1946, at Norton, Kansas. The couple was blessed with three children; Gerald “Jerry”, Linda and Mike.
Madonna worked several places during her working years; including, B&D in Broken Bow, IBP in Lexington, and Walmart in Lexington. She also was the caretaker for several elderly ladies around the area and sold Avon for years.
Madonna loved to dance and play Bingo, but being with her family was her greatest joy. She was a kind lady who had an award-winning smile and a heart of gold.
She is survived by one daughter: Linda and husband Maynard Barnes of Broken Bow, NE.
One son: Mike Nichelson of Overton, NE.
One daughter-in-law: Myrna Nichelson of San Diego, California.
Twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren
Special Friend: Tony Kotschwar of Lexington, Nebraska
Madonna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim in 1988, and son, Jerry in 1994.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating.
Burial will be held in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska.
Visitation will be Monday, October 10, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Elwood Care Center or Lexington Regional Health Center Hospice.
