Jerry J. Hernandez, 63, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. He was born on September 30, 1948, in Axtell, Nebraska, to John G. & Lydia (Michael) Hernandez. Jerry attended grade school in Lexington and graduated from St. Ann’s High School in Lexington. Following High School, Jerry worked various jobs; including, eight years at Monroe’s in Cozad. Jerry then found his calling which was working outdoors. He did yard work for Fred Hongsermeier up until the time of his death. Jerry was a very good boxer in his younger years and won the McCook District Golden Gloves in his division. He enjoyed crocheting blankets, working puzzles, playing pool and, of course, yard work. Survivors include his three brothers: Tom and wife Emily Hernandez of Kearney, Nebraska Joe and wife Angie Hernandez of Lexington, Nebraska Michael “Butch” Hernandez of Lexington, Nebraska One sister: Josephine and husband Phillip Araujo of Lexington, Nebraska Good Friend: Fred Hongsermeier of Lexington, Nebraska Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Donald & John, and two sisters; Paula & Delores. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Reverend Matt Koperski officiating. The Family has honored Jerry’s wishes that his body be cremated. There will be no visitation. In Lieu Of Flowers, Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation. Inurnment will be in the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery at Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
