Thelma Alberta Hatfield, 86, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, September 5, 2011, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington.
Thelma was born to Myrtle Munger Kepler and James O. Kepler on August 18, 1925 near Brocksburg in Keya Paha County, Nebraska. As a child of 5 years they moved to near Bassett, Nebraska. She went to Rock County rural schools, graduating from Rock County High School in 1943. She attended college at Wayne State College and Kearney State College.
She taught school in Rock and Dawson Counties. Thelma was united in marriage to Charles E. Hatfield June 8, 1946. They lived in York, Nebraska, St. Louis, Missouri and then moved to Lexington in 1949.
Thelma was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Nebraska State Genealogical Society, DAR, and Cosmo Pals.
She enjoyed traveling and visiting with her friends and family. Thelma spent her later years living at Park Avenue Estates.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Jo Anne Pesheck; three grandchildren; Mitzie, Alicia & Jovan and four great-grandchildren all of Washington. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son; two brothers; one sister and an infant grandson.
Thelma’s body was cremated and there will be no visitation.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington with Reverend Tess Hufford officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
