Caroline Jeanette Wamsley, 87, of Lexington, Nebraska, formerly of Johnson Lake, died Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
She was born February 29, 1924, one out of fifteen children to Oscar & Mary (Braman) Holmstedt at Paxton.
Carol graduated from Paxton High School in 1942. Following High School, Carol moved to Kearney, Nebraska, and worked at the Kearney Airbase where she worked on B-17 and B-29 bombers during World War II. She then went onto Chicago, Illinois, and worked at the Conrad Hilton Hotel.
In 1947, Carol moved back to the Paxton and Keystone area and married the love of her life. She was united in marriage to Clarence “Brownie” Wamsley on December 7, 1947, in Paxton, NE. To this union four children were born: Sandra, Rex, Mike & Janet.
The family moved to Johnson Lake in 1969. While living at Johnson Lake, Carol worked for the Game and Parks Commission. Following retirement, the couple moved onto an acreage south of Overton. She worked various jobs when they moved into area including Plectron and Andy’s Supper Club.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Paxton. Carol enjoyed reading, playing cards, bull riding, Horse Races and listening to music. She was an avid Cornhusker football and Kansas City Royals fan. Carol was a devoted housewife and family was her main priority. She loved spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Mike Wamsley of Kearney, Nebraska
Two daughters: Sandra Noecker of Grand Island, Nebraska
Janet and husband Colin Hinds of Lexington, Nebraska
One sister: Dorothy Fox of Englewood, Colorado
Eight Grandchildren and Four Great-Grandchildren
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband Brownie in 1997, one grandson Heath, twelve brothers, one sister, son-in-law Loren Noecker and daughter-in-law Janet Wamsley.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. (M.S.T) at Trinity Lutheran Church in Paxton, Nebraska with Pastor Judy Gifford & Lay Minister J.A. Welsh, officiating.
Burial will be in the Paxton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, Johnson Lake EMS, Heartland Military Museum in Lexington or American Legion in Paxton.
