Darren Lynn Willis, 43, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 near Overton, Nebraska on Interstate 80, as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born October 19, 1967 at Colorado Springs, Colorado to Marvin Lewis and Bethel June (Whipple) Willis. He graduated from high school in Colorado Springs and lived in Colorado until his 30’s. He later moved to North Carolina, Gothenburg and Elwood, Nebraska until settling in Lexington, Nebraska. At the time of his death he was working at Tyson Fresh Meats in Lexington.
Darren was married to his first wife, Bobbie, two children were born to this marriage; Ralph and Elizabeth. He later married Anne Petrie and one daughter, Karen, was born to his marriage.
He enjoyed using and working on computers, playing his guitar, singing and collecting Star Trek memorabilia.
Survivors include his wife: Anne Willis of Gastonia, North Carolina.
One son: Ralph Willis of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Two daughters: Elizabeth Willis of Ellicott, Colorado.
Karen Willis of Gastonia, North Carolina.
Four brothers: Stanley Willis of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.
Arnold Willis of Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Brian (Debbie) Willis of Ellicott, Colorado.
James “Tony” Willis of Paton, Colorado.
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Darren was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold.
Darren’s body has been cremated and his ashes will be placed near his parents in Colorado Springs, Colorado at a later date.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 1, 2011, at 5:30 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
