Esther Nadene Cox-Pearson, 84, of Broken Bow, Nebraska, formerly of Callaway, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Broken Bow.
She was born September 28, 1926, in Holyoke, Colorado to Ray and Martha (Brown) Stroup. She was a 1945 graduate of Phillips County High School in Haxtun, Colorado and went on to further her education at Sterling Junior College, graduating in May of 1947. She was baptized in April of 1939 in the Presbyterian Church in Colorado and later joined the United Methodist Church in Callaway when the couple moved there.
Nadene was united in marriage to Edward Obermiller in March of 1949, he preceded her in death in June of 1953. She then was united in marriage to Gerald Cox in 1976. She would later marry W.B. “Bill” Pearson on June 10, 1986, and welcomed Bill’s four children as her own. Bill preceded Nadene in death on November 6, 2010.
Nadene was a hard-working, respected career woman who took great pride in her ability to accomplish any job she set her mind to. While in Colorado she worked in accounting for an Oldsmobile dealership, did the accounting and ordering for a large lumberyard and retired as a receptionist for a physician. She loved taking care of people and when the couple moved to Callaway they enjoyed deliverying Meals-on-Wheels. She was a great mother to Bill’s children and thought of them as her own as she brought stability and love to the family. Family time was so important and she loved each grandchild as they came along. She was a wonderful cook and loved to can.

Bill, Jr. and wife Cindy Pearson of Broken Bow, Nebraska
Mark Pearson of Gibbon, Nebraska
Brothers: Donald and wife Cynthia Stroup of Golden, Colorado
Clifford Stroup of Arvada, Colorado
Sister-in-law: Clara Stroup of Golden, Colorado
Thirteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Nadene was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers; one sister and one granddaughter.
The family has honored Nadene’s wishes that her body be cremated and there will be no visitation.
A Memorial Service Celebration will be held Friday, June 24, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway, Nebraska with Reverend Roger Gillming officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.
Memorials are suggested to the Callaway Community Center or the United Methodist Church Women.
