Michael Wayne Werger, 60, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at his home at Johnson Lake.
He was born December 4, 1950, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gerald and Kathryn (Blecha) Werger.
Mike graduated from Waverly High School with the class of 1969. Following graduation he served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps. He was united in marriage to Deborah Foreman on June 3, 1972, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Two sons were blessed to this marriage; Michael Earl and Joshua Neil.
Mike worked 30 years for the Goodyear Company in Lincoln until moving to Johnson Lake in 2002, where he started Redhawk Contracting with his son, Michael.
He loved living at the lake, hunting, trapping, woodworking and gardening. Time spent with his grandchildren and his chosen grandchildren were times he always treasured. Mike and Deb raised mallard ducks and bunnies for the grandchildren to enjoy.
Mike was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and was active with the Baptist Church Jail Ministry.

Joshua Neil (Christy) Werger of Castle Rock, Colorado
Two brothers: Steve (Terri) Werger of Bennett, Nebraska
Jack (Christine) Werger of Eagle, Nebraska
One sister: Joan Nelson of Lincoln, Nebraska
Five grandchildren: Caleb & Joshua Werger and Skyler, Stormi & Sierra Werger
Grandchildren by Choice: Taylor, Emma, Aly & Mandy Roberts and Lexi Fudge, Carsen & Hayden Lacey
Mother-in-law: Betty Foreman of Lincoln, Nebraska
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Gerald and father-in-law, Earl Foreman
The family has honored Mike’s wishes that his body be cremated. There will be no visitation.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington with Pastor John Shields officiating
Memorials are suggested to Parkview Baptist Church Jail Ministry or Tri-County Hospital Hospice.
